About us
The pre-school is situated at Warwick Youth & Community Centre in Coten End and has been established for over 46 years. We are a non profit making registered charity, administered and managed by a management committee comprising of parents/carers volunteers, pre-school manager and deputies.
Coten End Pre-school is a 41 place setting and is open between 9am and 12 noon Monday to Friday during term time. We operate lunch club every day from 12 noon to 12.55 pm for children aged 3 years and above.
We have two groups
Caterpillars - for children aged from 2 years. This group is based in two rooms that provide a wide variety of activities that cover all the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and is registered for 15 children.
Butterflies - for pre-school children. This group operates in the main hall of the youth centre and also covers all the areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage and is registered for 26 children.
Both rooms have access to our garden, which provides children with planned activities every day and opportunity to explore outside. The children are encouraged to play outside all year round.
Staff
Our staff have a wealth of experience within Early Years many of which have more than 10 years experience based in this setting. The manager has NNEB qualification and NVQ Level 4 in management; the two deputies hold Diplomas in Pre-school Practice Level 3; a number of staff have NVQ Level 3 in Childcare & Education. In total there are 10 staff on the register with at least 9 staff on duty at any one time.
It is our policy that all staff attend training throughout the year to keep abreast of new legal requirements and new ideas in the childcare field.
Our Aim
We aim to provide the highest standards of care for all our children. We offer a friendly welcome to each individual child and their family and to provide a warm caring environment within which all children can enjoy learning and developing as they play. Children will be given the opportunity to make friends and learn to treat everyone with courtesy, respect and consideration. The children will learn to value themselves and others, which will build their confidence and self esteem. They will be encouraged to accept instruction and support from adults following the rules of the
pre-school, moving towards their own self discipline.
All children have an equal opportunity to learn and be supported to reach their full potential. All planned activities are organised to cater for every child taking into consideration the age and the ability of each individual child.
Parents as Partners
At Coten End Pre-school we understand the importance of parent involvement, as parents are encouraged to share their talents with the children and in the everyday activities that are on offer. The management committee is maintained by parents of current children attending
pre-school.
The pre-school organises coffee mornings half termly for parents to have the opportunity to stay and have a chat with each other. On occasions there are also training sessions on varied topics connected with children. These courses are usually free of charge and are run along side other agencies.
Coten End Pre-school is Ofsted registered and a member of the Preschool Learning Alliance (PLA). Registered charity (Reg No 1136227).
