The Role Of Ofsted

  • Regulatory Body.
  • Responsible for registering and inspecting early years providers in England.
  • Carries out inspections every 3-4 years linking into the EYFS.

In some circumstances, it will be necessary for the preschool to contact OFSTED, who have a duty to ensure that correct procedures are followed and adhered to. OFSTED would be involved if a child appeared to be at risk or where there seemed to be a possible breach of registration requirements.  In both cases the parents and pre-school would be informed and the Pre-school Development worker would work with OFSTED to ensure proper investigation of the complaint followed by appropriate action.
